Burst and frozen pipes in Salmon Arm
A tap that will not run after a cold night, or water coming through a ceiling. Shut the water off, then call us.

While you wait
- If water is already out, shut the main valve. Turn it clockwise. On a well, close the valve at the pressure tank and switch off the pump breaker.
- Open a cold tap so leftover pressure can drain. Catch what you can with towels and a bucket.
- Do not use a torch or an open flame on a frozen pipe. A hair dryer on low, aimed at the frozen spot, is enough if you can see the pipe and it is not already split.
- If the pipe is in a wall and you cannot see it, leave it. Thawing a split pipe fills the wall.
- If you smell gas, leave the building. Call 911 and FortisBC at 1-800-663-9911. Do not hunt for a switch on the way out.
When to call
Call us if a pipe has burst, if you have no water after a freeze, or if you are not sure the line is intact. We confirm the price before we start. A frozen line that has not split yet is still worth a call before it does.
